Fund transparency from donation to beneficiary

How Donations Are Used

FundRiseMe publishes only approved cases and explains how donations, refunds, payment costs, campaign promotion, and release controls can affect the amount ultimately available for a beneficiary.

1. Donations support an approved campaign purpose

A donation is recorded against the selected FundRiseMe-published campaign and is intended to support the purpose described on that page. The applicant and beneficiary must provide accurate information and notify FundRiseMe of material changes. FundRiseMe may request supporting documents before releasing funds.

2. Donor refund window

A donor may request a refund while the relevant donation remains under FundRiseMe’s control and before it is irreversibly transferred, spent, committed, or otherwise applied to the beneficiary, approved campaign purpose, or an expressly disclosed campaign expense. The Refund and Donation Review Policy explains the review process and post-application limitations.

3. What may reduce the net amount

Public campaign totals may show verified gross donations. The net amount ultimately available can be lower because of payment-processing charges, approved refunds, chargebacks or reversals, currency or payout costs, and any marketing or production arrangement that was disclosed and agreed before it applied.

4. Marketing, media, and advertising

FundRiseMe may prepare campaign photos, video, written creative, translations, and other campaign media and may, where appropriate and consented to, arrange an in-person visit to verify the request or create accurate material. Approved campaigns may be promoted through Facebook, Instagram, Google, TikTok, search, video, display, and other suitable channels.

5. Who pays promotion costs

Promotion is campaign-specific. FundRiseMe may pay advertising and production costs from its own budget, resulting in a 0% campaign marketing deduction. For another campaign, only after prior disclosure and applicant agreement, FundRiseMe may recover documented campaign-specific advertising or production costs from net campaign proceeds under the disclosed terms, or may use the disclosed 12% performance-promotion success-fee model where that option applies. Unless a campaign-specific disclosure expressly states otherwise, documented promotion-cost recovery and the performance-promotion success fee are not both charged for the same promotional activity.

6. No hidden deductions

FundRiseMe will not silently introduce a new platform, marketing, administration, or production deduction. Any FundRiseMe amount that can reduce beneficiary proceeds must be disclosed before it applies. General operating overhead is not deducted from a campaign unless a specific campaign disclosure expressly states that arrangement and the applicant agrees before it applies. Unless a campaign disclosure expressly states otherwise, documented promotion-cost recovery and the performance-promotion success fee are not both charged for the same promotional activity. Third-party payment, bank, refund, dispute, chargeback, currency, or payout charges may also apply under provider rules.

7. Verification and release of funds

Funds may be held while applicant, beneficiary, payout, fraud, refund, dispute, provider, or compliance checks are completed. Depending on the case, funds may be released to a verified beneficiary or authorized recipient or used directly for the approved campaign purpose.

8. Records and reconciliation

FundRiseMe may maintain internal records of verified gross donations, approved refunds, provider charges, chargebacks, agreed marketing or production costs, and payouts so campaign accounting can be reconciled. Where FundRiseMe itself covers a campaign cost, that cost is not deducted from the beneficiary amount unless a different arrangement was disclosed and agreed.

9. Changed circumstances and unused funds

If the intended use, beneficiary, expected costs, or payout plan materially changes, the applicant or beneficiary must notify FundRiseMe. FundRiseMe may pause release, publish a verified update, request more evidence, process eligible refunds, or approve another lawful use consistent with donor disclosures, provider rules, and applicable law.
